"Judy- thank you so much for a wonderful experience this weekend. I really appreciated all the behind the scenes work you did to make this event go off so seamlessly. Spending two days with Sylvia and her horses was incredibly special and unique, truly something no other instructor could ever offer, all due to your ability to connect with people. I’m looking forward to next year’s Gypsy Vanner workshop! ."

"Judy brings a passion not only for her subject, but the art and more importantly the technical knowledge needed to be able to do the art. Her willingness to freely part with the knowledge and her openness to input from students during the class as well as paying attention to those that may be struggling while allowing others to try different perspectives, is refreshing."

"Judy worked hand-in-hand with the farm’s owner to create multiple and diverse photographic opportunities for her participants. All the while, she was patient, personable, down-to-earth, and a joy to work with. Not only did we spend time out in the field, shooting, we spent several hours in the classroom learning some of her editing techniques and style that she uses to make her photos her own."

Located in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, this farm is home to over 15 adult horses. There might be some younger horses available for our enjoyment too. They breed champion blood line Gypsy Vanner Horses. We will be photographing in the barn to capture dramatic headshots and full body posed horses and out on the fields both sunrise and sunset. There will be sunrise and a sunset experiences and several in barn experiences. There is not a lot around the area as far as fast food for early morning grab and go. Plan accordingly. On your own for lunch and dinner. Our lunch breaks will be long since we are shooting early morning and evening.
This experience includes a wonderful "getting to know" the Amish family that owns there amazing horses. Thye are fine with photography of their kids and photography of them in their buggy.
Tentative schedule:
Meet and greet Thursday night September 19th at Southern Market in downtown Lancaster. 6 pm. Directions will be provided to the farm.
Friday morning September 20th, we will meet up at the farm at 6:30 am. We will photograph outside if lighting works or inside first. Then we will take a break for lunch. In the afternoon we will continue working with these horses both inside and out. We will finish with magical sunset photos. Dinner on your own.
Saturday September 21st we will meet at the farm at 6:30. If the weather cooperates we will get gorgeous sunrise, or foggy misty early morning photos. We will continue taking equine photography for several hours and then break for a long, on your own lunch break. We will meet back up at the farm for possible barn photos, aka head and body posed photographs, and then pre sunset around 4 and continue through sunset.
Sunday September 22nd we will meet up at Southern Market in Lancaster. Presentation on editing techniques when working on equine images. The building opens right at 11 am. So we will set up quickly and get started. The food here is amazing! We will grab lunch around 1, and eat while continuing to learn. There are food stands from all over the world with amazing options.
